Farm Girl Mercantile
The Mercantile is located in historic Downtown Franklin, Indiana. Set in an early 1900’s house, our shop is filled with home décor, antiques, furniture, boutique fashion from juniors to plus, locally made goods such as local honey, jams, salsas, candles and jewelry. We are your local retailer for Country Chic and DIY Paints, IOD stamps, transfers and moulds, JRV Stencils and RoyCycled decoupage papers.
We love our made in the US skincare lines by Farmhouse Fresh and Simple Goodness Goats Milk.
We carry the most beautiful Amish grown flowers spring to fall, juicy summer produce, big orange pumpkins in the fall and fresh greenery and trees at Christmas. We hope you will experience our nostalgic Mercantile in person to see all of our one of a kind items.
Voted Best Boutique of the Southside 2023 by the readers of the Daily Journal News.
Our History
The dream of owning my own shop began in childhood. I was a country girl raised on our family’s farm in Kokomo, Indiana. I’m very proud of my family’s agricultural roots here in Indiana and as far back as my ancestors in Ireland. We are a Sesquicentennial Indiana Hoosier Homestead Award Winning Family. Our farm survived 6th generations. This shop is my way of honoring that legacy.
I also grew up watching “Little House On The Prairie”. All my favorite episodes were those with Harriet and Nellie Oleson. They always made me laugh. I was especially drawn to the scenes shot inside the Oleson’s Mercantile. I loved all the antiques and how life was back then. Hence where our name came from and my love of history.
